Yeukai Tsikira, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Bachelor of Arts in Behavioural Science | Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey of healing from trauma and its impact on mental health.
With experience providing crisis intervention and emotional support in shelters and community programs, I've gained a deep understanding of trauma, resilience, and the unique needs of those facing adversity. I believe that healing is a personal journey, and I approach each client with empathy, respect, and a commitment to honoring their unique experience.
I’m passionate about decolonizing therapy, creating a space where healing happens free from oppressive structures. I integrate cultural awareness, historical context, and individual agency into our work together to ensure a holistic approach to healing.
My personal experience with a speech impediment has given me valuable insight into the way perceptions shape our thoughts and behaviors. This helps me connect authentically with clients, creating an environment where they feel heard, validated, and understood.

In this group, we focus on building resilience, managing emotions, and fostering empowerment to support your healing journey. A Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) is a trained mental health professional who provides confidential counselling for a range of life challenges while working under supervision as part of the registration process.
Our practice currently provides virtual counselling services across Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. This broad reach allows us to support individuals from many different regions.
I work with individuals 18+ who have experienced trauma in various forms, including victims of crime and those dealing with PTSD. Trauma can show up in many ways and affect all areas of life. I specialize in helping clients navigate trauma-related challenges such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, stress, burnout, suicidal ideation, life transitions, grief, and relationship difficulties.
While trauma is at the core of my practice, these challenges are often interconnected, as trauma impacts emotional, mental, and physical well-being. My trauma-informed approach helps individuals rebuild trust, communication, and connection in their relationships, supporting their overall healing and growth.
My approach is centered on person-centered therapy, integrating evidence-based techniques to support healing and growth. These include Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Somatic Trauma Work, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Together, these techniques help clients explore and address their unique challenges while fostering resilience, self-awareness, and emotional well-being.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help the brain process difficult memories and promote healing. It is highly effective for trauma and other distressing experiences. As a culturally competent practice, EMDR is sensitive to the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of individuals, including those from various religious traditions. It can be adapted to respect cultural values and spiritual practices, ensuring a holistic and respectful healing process for clients from all walks of life.
